Ceartas Advocacy
Ceartas provides Independent Advocacy to adults (16+) normally resident in East Dunbartonshire. Advocacy supports people to get information about their rights and options in relation to choices they have to make, and helps people to be heard by supporting them to communicate their preferences and choices effectively.
Ceartas prioritises working with certain groups of people:
- Older People
- Dementia
- Mental Health
- Physical Disability
- Learning Difficulties and -Disabilities
- Sensory Impairment
- Addictions
- Autism Spectrum
- Acquired Brain Injury
- Additional Communication Needs
Ceartas supports people in a range of sensitive situations, whether they are; subject to mental health legislation, housing issues, care and support choices, or parents that are involved in the Children’s Hearings system.
Advocacy is independent of the NHS, Local Authority or any other service provider – when you have an Advocacy Worker, they are working for you and no-one else, and the service is free of charge.
Ceartas is also a partner in a number of projects with local charities and organisations, and also facilitates a number of peer support groups throughout the area. Contact the team for more information.
